SUMMARY:Online: Personal Vision Series- Emotion
DESCRIPTION:Introductory Presentation Thursday July 2nd\, 7pm EST\nImage Review – Friday July 17th\, 7pm EST \nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education as we help grow your knowledge\, creativity\, and artistic expression with our expanded Personal Vision Series. These classes are designed to provide you time\, opportunity\, and guidance in shaping your creative photographic voice. We will give an overview on a specific topic in an online class session\, then give you time to go into the field by yourself (or with someone else\, if you choose) to complete an assignment based on that topic. We will reconvene a few days later for an online image review to discuss elements of your images.\nThe Personal Vision Series is a crossroads of many different ideas that we offer with Hunt’s Photo Education: Topic-based instruction/classes\, Photo Walks\, & Image Reviews. However\, unlike a Photo Walk where we will all take a certain direction\, for the “Walk” portion\, you will be asked to journey out on your own to photograph. This will cause you to be the driving force of your creativity and vision!\nThis month’s topic is “Emotion”. We will have an instructional online presentation on the first date and will reconvene for our Image Review on the second date. You will have that time period in between to photograph and edit our assignment. Your personal creative voice is critical to your growth as a photographer and as an artist. Join us for to help grow that voice!

SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Astrophotography Workshop with Special Guest Jack Fusco\, Sponsored by SIGMA
DESCRIPTION:Intro Presentation: Wednesday\, July 8th\, 7pm ET • Online \nIn-the-Field: Friday\, July 10th\, 6pm-midnight\nImage Review: Tuesday\, July 14th\, 7pm ET • Online \nPlease note: This workshop is being offered with both Friday and Saturday sessions. Make sure to register for the correct date! \nJoin professional photographer and SIGMA Ambassador Jack Fusco along with Hunt’s Photo Educator Emily Hojnowski for a special astrophotography workshop in Acadia National Park! This workshop will consist of three parts: An introduction on astrophotography\, a workshop in the field\, and an online image review after the workshop. \nDuring the Intro Presentation\, Jack will be guiding you through the basics of astrophotography all the way up to some advanced techniques. Jack will also review some basic astronomy information that will help you plan and capture images of the stars. The goal of this class is for you to leave with the knowledge and ability to shoot the stars on your own!\nDuring the In-the-Field session\, Jack will lead a small group of photographers to one of the darkest locations on the East Coast\, Acadia National Park. Under these incredible dark skies\, Jack will review techniques discussed during the introduction by putting them into practice.\nAfter the workshop\, we will regroup for an online critique session\, recorded if you cannot attend live. \nWhat You Will Learn \n\nWe will meet on location with time to scout and plan compositions.\nJack will share his personal approach to how he would plan an entire night to maximize his time shooting and ensure that he leaves with images he is excited about.\nThe night will begin chasing as many Milky Way compositions and shooting techniques as possible and end with time to shoot star trails.\n\nWhat You Should Bring \n\nA DSLR or Mirrorless Camera with manual settings\nA fast aperture lens\nExtra batteries (2 or more) and memory cards (64gb+)\nA sturdy tripod\nShutter Release / Intervalometer\nRed light equipped headlamp\, the red light will be less harsh on our eyes and help keep night vision intact!\nWarm clothing – Dress in layers to help stay warm\nWear decent hiking shoes/boots to manage the terrain\nWater/Snacks\n\nSIGMA LOANER GEAR!\nWe will also have a selection of SIGMA lenses for attendees to use during the location outings each night. These lenses are EXTREMELY useful\, as you will be able to utilize some of the best glass in ideal situations! Please note: If you are using Canon R mounts\, make sure to bring an adapter. \n  \nAbout Jack Fusco\n \nJack Fusco is a professional landscape astrophotographer / timelapser. What began as a way purely to document his travels as a touring musician\, photography has become his main form of creative expression. \nOn his often-sleepless journey\, he strives to share the wonder of the night sky with as many people as possible. Whether chasing the Milky Way along coast lines or capturing the Northern lights in unforgiving remote locations you’re sure to find him coffee in hand\, smiling up at the stars. \nMany of Jack’s images are often planned days\, weeks\, or even months in advance while waiting for weather and celestial objects to align. The resulting work shows a true and complete dedication to his craft. \nHis work has been featured by National Geographic\, TEDx\, LA Times\, NASA APOD\, BBC\, Forbes and many more. \nMore info on Jack can be found at his website\, Instagram\, Facebook\, and Twitter. \nWho should sign up?\nAnyone is welcome to attend this workshop\, but it is generally recommended that attendees have a general understanding of exposure\, aperture\, shutter speed\, and ISO for this workshop. \nRegarding inclement weather\nWe will do our very best to control the weather each night…or at least monitor the weather leading up to the event! If one night looks particularly improbable\, you may have the opportunity to shift to a surrounding night. Again\, we will monitor it leading up to the event. \nRegarding Lodging\nDue to the late finish\, you may consider staying in a local hotel. We do not have any agreements with local hotels\, but Bar Harbor\, Northwest Harbor\, Southwest Harbor\, and North Mt Desert Island have a number of hotel and cottage options available on the Mount Desert Island. Towns just off the island\, such as Ellsworth\, offer more affordable rates within a 30-minute drive.  \nOne last note\nThere are two date options for the in-the-field portion of the workshop\, so please make sure to register for the correct day.

SUMMARY:Creative Portrait Shootout: A Hands-On Styled Portrait Experience with Tony Gale and Hunt's Photo Education- Hunt's Melrose
DESCRIPTION:Please note: This workshop previously had a slightly different title (Capture the Moment). All other details are identical. \nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education and Sony for a hands-on event with a trio of photographers (Sony Ambassador Tony Gale\, frequent Hunt’s Photo Education guest instructor Henry Marte\, and Hunt’s Photo Educator Paul Nelson) guiding you to capture amazing portraits! \nIn this Portrait Shootout\, we will have four unique portrait setups for you to photograph. Each setup will be a little different\, placing our models in unique scenery\, props and costumes. All setups will have lighting provided. The goal is to put you\, the photographer\, in front of as many opportunities to capture unique portraits. Through scenery\, props\, costumes\, atmosphere\, and lighting\, you’ll be able transform a simple portrait into a more complex story! You also don’t need to be an expert at any of these elements to participate. Many of these setups will be built\, so you don’t need to worry about knowing the lighting or even how to pose the model! However\, we will have enough instructors to describe how or why you light or pose a subject in a specific way\, if you want to know! \nThe Creative Portrait Shootout aims to inspire and invigorate photographers to create something amazing. Join us for this fantastic opportunity! \nThis event is sponsored by Sony\, but ALL photographers\, regardless what camera you have\, are encouraged to attend. Sony loaner gear (cameras and lenses) will be available for ANYONE interested! (Make sure to bring a driver’s license and credit card for loaners.) \nSony Contest! \nIn addition to the event\, attendees will have the opportunity to post up their best image to IG in an attempt to win a prize. Details to be announced at the event! \nAbout Tony: \nSony Ambassador Tony Gale is a NYC based award winning portrait  photographer shooting for a range of advertising\, editorial and corporate clients. Tony was raised in Bellingham\, Washington (90 miles north of Seattle) and spent most of his time as a child exploring the woods behind his parents house. At 19 after visiting Bruce Lee’s grave in Seattle\, and taking his first photo with a disposable camera\, he bought his first camera. He promptly broke it and bought his first SLR. At 21\, he moved to Seattle to pursue photography and in fall of 2000 moved to NYC\, the center of the world. \nTony has taught photographic lighting at FIT in NYC and Parsons the New School for Design\, judged photo contests\, and has traveled the country leading workshops for American Photographic Artists. \n  \n  \n  \n  \nAbout Henry Marte\nHenry is a published photographer and credited filmmaker. He specializes in various forms of photography\, including portrait\, events\, headshots\, drone\, and commercial photography. SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Walk: Salem\, Mass in the Evening
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education as we explore and photograph historic downtown Salem\, MA. On this walk we will discuss settings and techniques for long exposures\, architectural photography\, subject development\, black and white photography\, and composition. \nThe city of Salem is synonymous with the Salem Witch Trials of the late-1600s\, and although the trials took place outside what is now commonly known as Salem\, the city has adopted them as part of its identity. Many of the city’s cobblestone walks\, 17th-19th century houses & architecture\, and cemeteries have been maintained\, reflecting Salem’s identity as a haunted community. \nOur route will take us down many of these streets in the downtown area\, then head to the Friendship at the harbor\, and finally continue to the downtown area again for fantastic low light and night photography opportunities! Photographers of all skill levels are encouraged to attend!

SUMMARY:Print Review Monthly: Printing Diptychs and Triptychs- Hunt's Melrose or Online!
DESCRIPTION:Introduction- Thursday July 16th\, 6:30pm ET • Online! \nPrint Review- Thursday July 23rd\, 6pm ET • Hunt’s Melrose or Online! \nThe printed image shows our successes and our faults at a much higher level of detail than the digital image. To become better photographers\, it helps to understand this by creating the printed image as a final product. \nThis Month’s Printed Vision Session: Printing Diptychs and Triptychs! \nImages can exist on their own or as a succession of multiple images. Alone\, images tell a story within the frame\, but in a succession\, the story also exists between the cadence. In this print review\, we will create a diptych or a triptych–two or three images printed and to be displayed side-by-side– tying multiple images together as one story. \nFor this session\, we will be creating diptychs (2) or triptychs (3) with images printed up to 8×12″ in size.  We are happy to make a larger or additional print outside of the class for an additional fee\, but consider that 8×12″ prints will result in 12×16″ or 18×16″ in print size–any larger will be pretty big! \nThis Print Review topic will meet for two sessions. In the first session\, we will discuss the topic  and present a variety of options for you to have your image printed. In between sessions 1 and 2\, attendees will independently process images and submit them to the instructor for printing. Educator Paul Nelson will produce a recorded image review\, discussing paper options\, editing suggestions\, and more\, to be sent back to you leading up to the second session. Paul will then print images for the class. In the end\, you will receive 2-3 prints that will make up a diptych or a triptych. (We will also discuss matting and framing options and how to display these images.) \nJoin us for an informative Printed Review class! \nA Note About The Printed Review Series \nOur Print Review Monthly is a chance to continue the print conversation over the course of many months. These sessions are excellent for anyone: \n• Someone that wants a little help with editing before they get a print \n• Someone that does print but has print-related questions \n• A person that prints often and wants to try a different paper \n• Someone with no knowledge of printing that just wants to get a print! \n  \nCome check out why printing is the best thing to do for your photography! \n  \nIn-Person or Online \nThis class will be taking place in-person in our Melrose store location and online\, in case you cannot attend live. If you cannot attend live\, your print can either be mailed to you or picked up at one of our Hunt’s Photo store locations.

SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Walk: Shelburne Falls and the Bridge of Flowers
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for a walk around Shelburne Falls\, Massachusetts and the picturesque “Bridge of Flowers”.\nShelburne Falls was once a great fishing area for Native Americans\, but progressed into a manufacturing town. This area has a nice view and allows for interesting shots of the falls. The old trolley bridge was converted into a walkway and managed by the women of the town. They planted flowers and shrubs to create a more pleasing atmosphere. Today\, thousands of visitors come to view this area and photograph the flowers.\nAlthough the falls setting is more of a landscape viewing\, the bridge of flowers poses an excellent opportunity for macro lovers. We will divide our time on this walk between macro/close-up photography on and around the bridge and landscape/longer exposure photography around the falls . This will be an excellent opportunity to utilize both macro lenses and neutral density filters.

Feel free to reach out to us at classes@huntsphoto.com if you have questions! \nJoin us for this fun\, workshop! \n  \nAbout Emilie\nEmilie Talpin is an OM SYSTEM ambassador who grew up in Chalon sur Saône\, France\, the birthplace of Nicéphore Niépce and the first photograph. Despite this background\, she got into photography late and\, in 2018\, joined a local camera club where she met a group of talented photographers and was inspired to dive deeper into the art of capturing moments in time. She attributes part of her success as a photographer to switching from heavy and cumbersome gear to a camera system that is lighter and more versatile. She bought the OMD Em1 Mark II\, a wildlife and a macro lens\, and has never looked back. She is particularly interested in macro photography\, especially in the art of capturing water drop refraction. \nYou can read her articles: https://learnandsupport.getolympus.com/about-emilie-talpin\nContact\nInstagram: @emilietalpin ( https://www.instagram.com/emilietalpin/ )\nWebsite: https://emilietalpin.smugmug.com/ )\nYoutube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCsyFkE7rIxyID4-VRHcRXvg )

SUMMARY:The Hunt's Photo Education Black and White Weekend Workshop 2026
DESCRIPTION:Hunt’s Photo Education Presents…The Weekend Workshops: A long weekend featuring education seminars\, photo walks and workshops\, image reviews\, editing\, and fine art printing\, all in glorious black and white. \nDuring the weekend\, each attendee will have the opportunity to attend four Photo Walks/Workshops. We will have an introductory meet and greet and presentation on the first evening that will set the tone and expectations for the weekend\, as well as allow attendees to mingle with other attendees. On days 2 and 3\, our instructors will conduct one Photo Walk in the mid/late morning and one Photo Walk in the evening. They will repeat the same schedule on Friday and Saturday. (So\, if you attend a Photo Walk with Instructor A on Friday morning\, you’ll have the ability to attend a different Photo Walk with Instructor B on Saturday morning.)\nDuring the middle part of Friday and Saturday\, we will have image reviews\, image processing\, and have general photography discussions. You are welcome to attend these\, or you can take a break\, if needed! \nOn Day 4\, we will print and review selected images from all attendees. You are welcome to take these images with you after the workshop! \nThis year will be centered out of our Hunt’s Photo Melrose store location. Our Melrose store has a large classroom area which will be excellent for our editing and review sessions! For planning purposes\, be aware that many of our walks and workshops will be taking place outside of the Melrose area and you will need to travel to those locations. \nJoin us for a fantastic weekend of photo fun! \n  \nPlease Note: We are in the process of finalizing our Photo Walk/Workshop Schedule. These walks will not be posted\, but we will inform you of locations in the week leading up to the event.
