SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Adventure: The 2024 Total Eclipse in Texas
DESCRIPTION:Workshop Description\nIn April 2024\, North America will be treated with a total solar eclipse\, the most spectacular kind of eclipse\, where the moon perfectly obscures the sun. The path of total shadow (umbra) across the Earth’s surface is typically 30 to 50 miles wide while the path of partial shadow (penumbra) can reach over 1\,000 miles wide. In this case\, the eclipse will be visible from Texas to Maine\, with greatest chance for visibility in the Southern section of the US.\nOn this unique\, once-in-a-lifetime workshop\, we will be discussing and instructing on how to photograph the total solar eclipse\, then put our practice to the test by photographing the eclipse from an excellent (currently undisclosed*) location.\nIn preparation for the workshop\, we will make sure you are aware of the proper gear you will need to bring\, from filters to cameras and lenses to tripods and more! We will meet online about two weeks prior (TBA) to discuss more of the specifics and give you a “dry run” of the process. We will maximize our time in the field practicing our “eclipse timing” and spend the entire previous day running through the whole setup\, including composition\, camera settings\, when to utilize filters\, how to execute bracketing\, and more so that you are fully prepared during the eclipse. After the eclipse\, we will also have a day for post-processing\, which is extremely unique to this type of photography.\nFor many\, this is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Don’t miss it! \nEclipse Time Schedule (times shown in local time CDT)\nTotal Duration of Eclipse: 2 hour\, 40 minutes\, 13 seconds\nDuration of full eclipse: 4 minutes\, 11 seconds\nPartial begins: 12:20:26 pm\nFull begins: 1:38:02 pm\nMaximum at: 1:40:04 pm\nFull ends: 1:42:10 pm\nPartial ends: 3:00:39 pm \n*We will be viewing the eclipse from Texas. Because eclipse locations can become crowded\, we have decided not to disclose our specific location or the hotel we will be using. We will share that information with you upon registration. \nWhat’s included in the workshop: (Sunrise @ 7:00 am\, Sunset @ 8 pm)\n• Two days of in-field instruction\, timing practice and eclipse day instruction\n• Airport P/U & return\, ground transportation while in the field\n• Experienced workshop leaders\n• Image Discussion\, Post-Processing\, and Review Sessions \nWhat’s not included in the workshop:\n• Air fare or baggage fees to and from Dallas-Fort Worth\n• Lodging- We have secured a hotel in Texas for all attendees. Due to the sensitive nature of this workshop (making sure no one takes our rooms!)\, we have decided not to disclose the specific hotel we will be using. SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Adventure: Annular Eclipse in Utah
DESCRIPTION:Workshop Description\nThis is an annular solar eclipse\, which will be visible across the western U.S.\, as well as Central America and South America. While the moon will be passing directly between the Earth and the Sun\, it will happen when the Moon is at a point in its orbit when it is farther away from the Earth. As a result\, the Moon does not completely cover the face of the sun. This is known as a ?Ring of Fire? eclipse.\nThis eclipse will be an excellent opportunity for photographers to prepare for the Total Eclipse seven months later. It can serve as a ?dry run? so that people can test any new equipment that they have for the 2024 eclipse\, such as solar filters for cameras. This will also be an opportunity for people across the western U.S. to see an eclipse without having to travel outside the United States.\nThis ?Ring of Fire? eclipse will be visible from several national parks in Utah but those locations will have the maximum number of people. Someone may also be able to view it while standing in four states at one time at the intersection of Utah\, Colorado\, New Mexico and Arizona. We will be viewing it from Mexican Hat\, UT\, which is on the very center-line of the eclipse\, giving us the longest amount of time in the total ?Ring of Fire? portion of the eclipse.\nEclipse Time Schedule (times shown in local time MDT)\n	Total Duration of Eclipse:	2 hours\, 51 minutes\, 10 seconds\n	Duration of annularity: 4 minutes\, 37 seconds\n	Partial begins: 9:10:27 am\n	Full begins: 10:29:23 am\n	Maximum at: 10:31:42 am\n	Full ends: 10:34:00 am\n	Partial ends: 12:01:37 pm\nWe will photograph in the following locations:\n Only one location in Mexican Hat area for best viewing of the eclipse\nWe will maximize our time in the field practicing our ?eclipse timing? as well as incorporating classroom instruction\, and critiques (as requested).\nWhat?s included in the workshop: (Sunrise @ 6:00 am\, Sunset @ 6:45 pm)\n? SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Adventure: Mexican Hat & Monument Valley
DESCRIPTION:Workshop Description\nThe road to Monument Valley crosses the Utah-Arizona state line as it heads towards a group of red cliffs and spires in the distance. Heavy rain may temporarily make the road impassable for all but 4 WD vehicles. The drive is 17 miles long of which 13 miles is a one-way loop\, and typical times for the full trip are 4 to 5 hours for photographers. 15 mph is the speed limit\, and some places are too rocky and bumpy to go any faster\, though other sections are quite smooth (with a surface of hard pressed sand). Early morning is the preferred time to visit as the light is better for photography and there are far fewer people than later in the day. Opening hours are 6 am – 8 pm (May – Sep) or 8 am – 5 pm (Oct – Apr).\nThere is much to see along the Valley Drive\, even if many of the views are of the same formations\, just at different angles\, as some of the narrower buttes look quite different from one side compared to the other. This part of Monument Valley is one of the most impressive large-scale landscapes anywhere in the Southwest\, rivaling places like the Grand Canyon or Yosemite for the variety of scenes to photograph.\nWe will photograph in the following locations:\n? Muley Point Overlook\n? Gooseneck State Park\n? Valley of the Gods\n? Forrest Gump Hill\n? Monument Valley\n? The Mittens and Merrick Butte\n? Elephant Butte and The Three Sisters\n? John Ford?s Point and Artist?s Point\nWhat?s included:\n? Five days of in-field photography and instruction\n? Airport P/U & return\, ground transportation in the field\n? SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Adventure: Bodie Ghost Town
DESCRIPTION:Workshop Description\nBodie was one of the biggest and ?bad-dest? of California?s gold mining boom-towns in the last century. Thirty-five million dollars worth of gold and silver was discovered in Bodie?s mines between 1877 and 1888. Stagecoaches arrived daily and the town?s population quickly swelled. But? the boom years were few. By 1890 the mines were shutting down. It was determined that over a hundred million dollars (in 1890 value) in gold was taken from the mines of Bodie. Major fires\, the worst in 1932\, destroyed most of the town. By 1940\, everyone was gone. Today Bodie is a ghost of its former glory. It is the largest and best-preserved gold mining ghost town in California. In 1964\, it was purchased by California and declared a State Historical park.\nWinters can be brutally cold in Bodie. SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Adventure: The Highlands of Iceland
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Adventures for another trip to the ?Land of Fire and Ice?! In this photo workshop\, we will travel across the Icelandic Highlands and discover all of the best that this isolated area has to offer. This is a comprehensive workshop focusing on all areas of the Highlands plus the M?vatn area in the north of Iceland. Our main focus is to access locations that are closed for most of the year and photograph the dynamic Highland landscapes.\nThe Highlands of Iceland are vast\, combining glaciers\, moraines\, red ? yellow and black deserts\, geothermal areas & hot springs\, lava\, lakes\, rivers and waterfalls. In this Highlands & North Iceland Photo Workshop\, you will have the rare opportunity to photograph and visit areas which offer all of the landscapes so unique to Iceland. It is quite simply a photographer?s dream.\nThe Highlands are usually referred to as the central area of Iceland\, located 400 meters above sea level\, covering approximately 76% of the land?s surface area. It is often referred to by Icelanders as ?bygg?ir ? or uninhabited country. Roads accessing this area often open in late June\, and typically close in the beginning of October\, if the autumn is mild. This short window of time gives enthusiastic photographers only a few months a year to travel and enjoy the many breathtaking locations this area offers.\n~\nYour trip includes: \n\nAll accommodations with private bathrooms during the workshop\nAll meals during the tour.\nGuiding by Hunt’s Photo Adventure?s Robert Fletcher and Jeff Swinger & an Icelandic Pro Photographer\nImage Critique & Post Processing session\nSuper Truck transportation\nPrivate airport transport directly to and from your hotel in Reykjavik\n\nYour trip does not include: \n\nInternational Flights\nCancellation/Travel Insurance (Strongly recommended)\nAlcoholic drinks\nDinner on the last night\nItems of Personal nature\n\n\nYour passport will be required on this workshop.\nA Little Bit About the Workshop:\nThe Workshop will begin in Reykjavik with a group dinner on the first evening.\nTransportation upon Arrival:?We include Flybus vouchers from Keflavik Airport & back after the workshop. Upgrade to a private airport pick up or drop off is available. We use our specially modified 4?4 Super Truck for transportation in our Iceland Workshops.\nAccommodations:?Accommodation in double occupancy for nine nights at hotels\, single room available upon request. We stay at the various hotels & guesthouses\, but as close as possible to our photography locations. The workshop concludes when we check into our last hotel night in Reykjavik ? Participants will then have time to visit Reykjavik or rest for early flights.\nSkill Sets:?All Levels of Photographers are Welcome. While this is a photography workshop\, non-photographers may also register\, but please note that we will emphasize photographing on the workshop.\nPhysical Ability:?The tour is open to all ability levels. While this is not a hiking tour\, we will be as active as conditions allow and make short walks and potentially hike up small 100-200 meter hills.\nMisc:?The Workshop includes Photographic tutoring and guidance by our Hunt’s Photo Education team as well as a pro-landscape photographer from Iceland. We will provide you with a packing list for the tour\, with recommended equipment and clothing. Following in the footsteps of Ansel Adams\, he mostly photographed people (children\, portraits\, weddings\, seniors\, etc.)\, which paid the bills. Over time\, he became interested in photographing wildlife and landscapes\, mostly for personal pleasure. In 1999\, he was asked to become a ?Stringer? for Canon USA and has been in that position since then. It has led Robert towards teaching\, leading workshops and sharing his life-long passion with others. He always looks forward to sharing his knowledge of photography with those who are anxious to learn.\nJeff Swinger?boasts nearly 30 years of professional experience built upon his passion for telling stories through images. He honed his skills over 16 years with The Cincinnati Enquirer covering news and sports and has covered four Olympic Games for USA Today Sports. Additionally\, Jeff works as an educational contributor and freelance Pro Market Representative for Canon USA and travels domestically and internationally conducting photo tours and workshops.
